The cookie quest . . .

As if the days are not full enough, I have started a cookie quest,
and you can read more about it here.
Blame it on a bad sinus infection and even worse daytime television.
I turned to the Internet and started searching.

A cookie lover has to do what a cookie lover has to do.
I'm not getting any younger, and this is the year to discover
--or develop--
the chocolate chip cookie recipe of my dreams.

Presented here are the results of my first attempt
with a new recipe.
Click on any photo for a mouth-watering, actual size image.

It holds promise.

But not perfection.

The quest continues....
Recipe suggestions are MOST welcome!!  I also share cookies very willingly.

What is your quest this month, of the serious or silly variety?

  3. My quest is to lick all your cookies Caroline! Actually it's to read more good/positive news than sad/bad news! You inspire this in me!
You're going to think this is weird, I know you will, the second photo down, cookie on right, looks really sad or sleepy...doesn't it?

  4. Care, you're right--that cookie DOES look a little sleepy....these were baked at almost 10 pm--maybe I need an earlier oven time???

Marie and Cindy (and John), Come on over...this particular plate is now empty, BUT I'm planning to try again tonight or tomorrow...and I welcome cookie critics!!

  5. my quest is to make a piece of jewellery every day for a year, not as simple as it sounds lol.

Are you going to treat us to the recipes of these cookies?

  6. I read your cookie quest column in the News this week. A much need study reprieve here at CC. :) I'll be home all next week...which day will these cookies debut in the office?

My quest, beginning in March, is to learn a new word in Kinyarwanda every day. This native language is a fun cross between French and the traditional Swahili and makes for a good, but manageable, challenge as I prepare to travel to Rwanda in May!

Umunsi Mwiza (OoMoonSee MweeZah) or Have a good day!

  9. gallerydarrow: you're right, dakotablessings DID eat them! Valentine's Day surprise....so...

Steph: No cookies in the office, sorry!! Our mutual dakotablessings friend ATE them!!!

Oh, hi, dakotablessings! Glad you enjoyed the cookies--and thanks for the advice--as always, you are right!!

CheekyLemur, thanks for stopping by, all the way from France. I'm honored! Your quest is QUITE a challenge--making time for anything creative on a daily basis, literally, is a challenge-and a glorious one!

Recipes WILL be shared as appropriate--when I'm happy with the results...or sooner.
    :-)

And, Steph, GOOD FOR YOU. I think the trip you're taking is remarkable. I think YOU'RE quite remarkable for tackling the language--feel free to practice on us (and thanks for providing the phonetic spelling).

  10. More flour?

    Different shortening?

Dark instead of light brown sugar?

    We'll see....

  13. Mmmmmmmmmm....I, too, am on a quest for perfectly yummy cookies, both choc. chip and oatmeal, and maybe a few more. I recently tried half REAL buttter and half butter flavored crisco, with good results. BUT I'm still working on it.
I have lots of little hands that help me measure, which makes for a great and fun variable. :)
